June 26, 2011 The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

My Dear Parishioners;

This is the last letter of the year until September. Schools have closed, many people have left Medfield for the summer, and our lives begin to change. Change can sometimes be difficult for many of us; even small interruptions in our daily routine can throw us off track. But, no change that we will ever experience equals to the change proposed by Jesus in today’s Gospel on this Solemnity of the Feast formerly known as Corpus Christi. Jesus invites us to change who we are; real transformation means transformation of self. It means no longer clinging to who we are or acting as we want, but to truly let go.

The real change Jesus invites us to is to become like Him, the living bread. We are each given the invitation to partake in the Body and Blood of Christ so that we are able to become different people. We are asked to do our daily tasks well and out of love, we are asked to be honest, just and forgiving, and then one day this transformation will lead us to eternal life.

May God Bless all of you this summer, and for those leaving Medfield, we wish you a Happy Vacation and, as the song goes, we will see you in September . . .

Fr. Leroy
